there's  a  moment  of  hesitation,  before  her  knuckles  finally  rap  against  vivienne's  door,  where  she  has  half  a  mind  to  turn  around  and  walk  right  back  where  she  came  from.  instead,  she  musters  all  of  her  courage  into  a  deep  breath,  free  fingers  now  tinkering  with  the  hem  of  her  coat.  her  other  hand  is  holding  a  small  bouquet  of  flowers,  thrusting  them  into  the  doorway  the  second  it  cracks  open.  a  gesture  of  good  will  on  her  end,  proof  that  she's  at  least  open  to  reconciliation.  “not  sure  what  you're  into  these  days,  but  these  are  some  of  my  favorites  so  i  figured  they'd  suffice.”

if celeste had to pick one special talent, it would be her ability to feel someone staring at her from a mile away. whether it was her love for attention or her hyper awareness, she wasn't sure, but the feeling drew her eyes from the spread of goods in front of her to the blonde head of a ghost across the way. brows pulled together, blinking a few extra times, convinced that surely she'd seen wrong the first time. any hope of walking away with a trinket was squashed as the other approached her, a heavy sigh falling from her lips. "that's what happens after a decade, isn't it ?" head tilts, arms crossing. "or is time different in the land of the disappeared ?"

   ― walking around pointlessly  just to see what the market had to offer had turned out to be quite the waste of some good few minutes. she'd always been more of a farmer's market kind of girl anyway. but the familiar face in the crowd caught vivi's attention and she failed at being discreet with her look, unceremoniously staring at the girl's soul at that point. it shouldn't surprise her when she was caught doing so. “  sorry, i was staring. it's just-   ”  she  paused, wondering if it made sense to even say the words, unsure if  celeste even remembered her at all. “  you've grown so much. ”

SHUGO CHARA X KP

Note: Shugo Chara is a shoujo, magical-girl anime from the 2000’s. Charas have their own names and a simple color palette. They are a small persona of their owners’ dreams and reflect different selves. They provide the owner special abilities when merged. (Ex. Shown in poster. The pink-hair girl, Amu, has 4 charas: Ran: Athletic, confident Miki: Artistic, cool Sue: domestic skills, caring Dia: Idol, to shine)

These are some personalities/abilities for kp characters I can think of.

[Shego] Tina (Teacher): takes charge, likes to correct mistakes, drills info into people, gets very proud if student reaches to her expectations.

Ability: listener(s) will believe whatever sentence Shego says as the absolute truth for 1 minute. (Once per day)

[Drakken] Ernie (Mad Scientist): reckless, ambitious, loves a good dad joke, holds grudges

Ability: complete understanding of any machinery that will help improve it immensely or create a new invention

[Kim] VivI (Cheerleader): very competitive, confident, a burst of energy.

Abilities: super strength, speed, (explains most of her physical skills during missions)

Angie (Girly Girl): loves fashion, beauty, and fun things. Often carefree & mischievous. Hates stress.

Ability: pulls out gadgets disguised as beauty products (laser lipstick, stink lipgloss, tracking foundation, etc) from her purse

[Ron] Jynx (Celebrity): reflects Ron’s wish for popularity, has unique charm, can socialize like a fish in water, improv master

Blaze (Monkey Ninja): Ron’s monkey power side, mysterious, only awakens when in rage

Ace (Athlete): prideful, tends to overthink

Ability: proficiency in any sport

Rye (Chef): calm and collected, multitasker, finds joy in sharing his creations

Abilities: culinary arts, craftsmanship

[Yori] Tsuki (Ninja): quiet, stealthy, goes with the flow. Loyal and protects her loved ones

Ability: dual-wielding fan, short-term invisibility

[Bonnie] Reyna (Queen): Strategic, quick-thinker. Vain and often driven by emotions

Ability: Huge charisma, anyone who believes in her crown will fall towards her demands.

[Junior] Celeste (INTERNATIONAL POP SENSATION): upbeat, optimistic, knows how to hype up a crowd. Feeds off of praise and love

Ability: Make anyone admire him to the point of a crazed fan. (Dispels when they hear someone else sing); Disco dance balls that hypnotize people to gather up and dance! until….?

[Joss] Jade (Cowgirl): bubbly sweet, helpful, and hyper. Can easily forget small details.

Ability: robot horse stampede; insane control of lasso

[Monique] Jacqueline (Fashion Designer): Sassy, stands up for herself and others. Loves a good dynamic.

Ability: dress up doll (whatever outfit she draws in her book will appear on the actual target)

[Wade] Digit (Intel): always prepared with technology. knows everything about everyone, Gossip KING. thinks that all problems can be solved with science

Abilities: short-distance teleportation. can create a holographic image of himself as decoy

[Jim and Tim] Hex & Bolt (Engineers): curious pranksters, thirty for knowledge. Have inside jokes, genius little comedians. Pretty filial inside.

Abilities: makes crazy innovative technology, twin telepathy, thick thinned (less easily injured during experiments)

By this point, making another character wish list or prediction for the remaining Smash Bros. DLC is probably a fool's errand. The name of the game for Masahiro Sakurai and his development team has been to subvert expectations every single time.

So, I’m just going to make an (incomplete) list of the characters that I think would be neat to see playable in Ultimate and leave it at that. As usual, I won’t be mad if most of these characters don’t appear in the roster, but I will definitely be elated if any of them happen.

By this point, the only rules I’m using for the sake of keeping it in the realm of plausibility (and the only ones that seem to remain ironclad) are: a) No Assist Trophies, b) The character must originate from a videogame, c) The character must have appeared on a game for a Nintendo console in some fashion.

I tried to limit it to a character per franchise, but admittedly I cheated a few times. So pardon me if you see some “blatant favoritism” in the list.

Potete leggere i racconti di Lucia Berlin senza conoscere la storia della sua vita e avere la netta sensazione che quello che vi sta passando sotto gli occhi sia totalmente vero, sia autobiografico. Fate bene, alla Berlin potete affidarvi, vi porta nel vero delle cose. Ha uno sguardo fiero e doloroso, una bellezza coraggiosa, non si vergogna di portare in giro quegli occhi che mostrano esattamente quello che provano. Per iniziare a leggere La donna che scriveva racconti (Bollati Boringhieri, 2016; traduzione di Federica Aceto) ci vorrebbe una cintura di sicurezza o almeno un avviso di pericolo. Con la Berlin fai un bagno nella verità, lei ti apre la sua vita come fosse una casa, entri e vivi come lei, senti come lei, diventi lei.

Per me è stato abbastanza facile, quasi troppo, dato che lei ha lavorato per anni come infermiera. “Lavoro negli ospedali da anni, ormai, e se c’è una cosa che ho imparato è che più un paziente è malato meno fa rumore. è per questo che ignoro l’interfono dei pazienti”: assurdo, è la prima cosa che mi hanno detto quando sono entrata in ospedale, stare attenta a chi non fa rumore. Sempre in questo racconto, Temps Perdu, la Berlin entra esatta e precisa, senza sbavature, a spiegare che cosa sia davvero l’apparente freddezza di un operatore medico: “Un tempo pensavo che le infermiere fossero rigide e senza cuore. Ma quello che davvero non va è la malattia stessa. Ora vedo che l’indifferenza delle infermiere è un’arma contro la malattia. Combattila, sconfiggila. Ignorala, se vuoi. Ma soddisfare ogni capriccio di un paziente finisce solo per incoraggiarlo ad amare la sua condizione di malato, e questa è la verità”. Appunto, la verità. Lucia Berlin scrive per riportare la verità, per fermarla e restituircela priva di moralità e sentimentalismi inutili.

Se leggete la Berlin preparatevi a una bella doccia fredda, preparatevi a stare completamente nudi. Siete davanti a una bella scansione a raggi X, non potete portarvi niente dietro, siete da soli coi vostri pensieri, con le vostre debolezze, con i vostri corpi inesatti. La Berlin scriveva quello che riteneva vero, non giusto, non c’è un giudizio nei suoi racconti, lei ti dice quello che è vero anche se non vuoi sentirtelo dire. Basta guardare una sua foto, osservarle gli occhi, per capire che lei era una di quelle scrittrici che registrava la vita attraverso la scrittura.

Scrivere per la Berlin è prima di tutto un atto emotivo. Scrivere significa fare tre salti: da ciò che sento dentro la pancia, questo fuoco che brucia, lo porto al cuore, con la lentezza che richiedono i sentimenti, e poi alla testa, cerco di trovargli un posto e infine alla lingua, gli do un nome. La scrittura richiede tutta questa fatica, per questo la Berlin non può mentire, per lei è un atto conoscitivo, è qualcosa che ti salva davvero la vita. Ti permettere di renderti altro, trovare la tua isola felice per qualche momento, isolarti fino a diventare solo una voce. Da questa voce che ormai è diventata di tutti, non è più nostra, poi riconoscersi e osservare quello che stiamo facendo e in che direzione stiamo andando.

Lucia Berlin ha sempre negato che ci fosse una qualche forma di poetica nella sua scrittura, un credo a cui asservirsi. Lei si piega solo alla verità, a nient’altro. Ci piega. Ecco perché leggere i racconti della Berlin è attraversare mondi lontanissimi come fossero quotidiani, vivere esperienze lontane, come un aborto clandestino e vietato, come fossero nostre. La Berlin non ha un progetto, non organizza le storie, le vive e ce le restituisce in quel dono d’amore che è la scrittura. La Berlin vuole essere ascoltata, si scrive sempre perché qualcuno ci restituisca la voce, perché qualcuno ci dica “anche io come te”. Si scrive perché non si può smettere di amare questa vita. E lei lo sapeva bene, dopo tre matrimoni falliti e aver fatto qualsiasi lavoro possibile per mantenere quattro figli, continuare a sentire. Leggete Lucia Berlin se volete capire che cosa è il coraggio di vivere ogni giorno, se volete smettere di sopravvivervi.

finally,  an  answer  from  vivienne  that  celeste  could  comprehend.  she  knew  more  about  shame  and  selfishness  than  she'd  like  to  admit,  the  latter  being  the  reason  it  had  taken  her  so  long  to  come  to  a  place  of  forgiveness.  there's  a  softness  to  her  features  as  she  looks  across  to  vivi,  hands  raising  in  surrender.  “okay,”  she  sighs,  “i  forgive  you.  i  mean  it,  no  strings  attached,  no  more  explanations,  i  can't  promise  i  won't  have  any  questions  because  i  definitely  need  to  know  every  detail  of  your  life  up  until  now,  but  i  can  promise  that  i  won't  hold  this  over  your  head  anymore.”  if  she  was  honest,  she  was  just  thankful  that  vivienne  had  put  up  with  her  up  until  this  point.  there  was  nothing  forcing  her  to  give  her  the  answers  celeste  was  so  desperately  seeking,  adding  to  the  genuine  feeling  she'd  gotten  as  vivienne  told  her  story.  “also,”  reaches  out  to  place  a  hand  over  hers,  smile  growing  the  slightest  bit.  “you  were  only  twenty  -  two,  vivi,  who  the  fuck  has  done  anything  substantial  with  their  lives  at  twenty  -  two  ?  i'm  as  hard  on  myself  as  anyone  else,  but  at  some  point  you  have  to  realize  you're  being  hard  on  yourself  to  your  own  detriment.  and  i  do  see  that  you  have,”  a  moment  of  contemplation,  eyes  falling  before  meeting  hers  again.  “while  we're  at  it,  i'd  like  to  apologize  for  my  part  in  it,  too.  i  wasn't  exactly  the  best  welcoming  party,  and  i  might've  been  a  little  entitled  in  my  expecting  answers.  thank  you  for  being  willing  to  give  them  to  me,  you  have  no  idea  what  it  means  to  me  after  all  this  time.”

    there   were   many   moments   in   her   life   where   vivi   wanted   to   come   back,   apologise   and   explain   herself.   now,   finally   doing   it,   she   remembered   one   of   the   many   reasons   she'd   always   decided   against   it   in   the   past:   she   had   no   answer   to   some   of   the   questions   celeste   was   throwing   at   her   and,   the   ones   she   did   have,   made   little   to   no   sense.   she'd   been   young,   stupid   and   acted   on   a   whim   and   a   broken   heart   then   decided   to   live   with   those   consequences.   but   it   wasn't   that   simple   to   explain,   it   never   would   be.   “   mon   coeur,   of   course   i   didn't   think   that   but―   i'd   never   really   acted   selfishly   until   that   point   and   i   didn't   know   how   to   do   it.   whether   you'd   ask   me   to   stay   or   come   back   didn't   make   a   difference,   i'd   still   feel   compelled   to   do   it   because   that's   what   i   thought   would   make   everyone   happy   and   doing   what   makes   people   happy   hadn't   gotten   me   anywhere   by   that   point.   it's   stupid   but   that   was   me   at   twenty-two.   ”   she   put   the   glass   down,   no   longer   in   need   of   liquid   courage   despite   how   uncomfortable   the   talk   still   made   her.   “   or   maybe   i   was   just   ashamed.   that   i'd   gotten   nowhere   in   life   and   it   took   being   made   a   fool   of   to   finally   go   after   what   i   wanted.   i   surely   didn't   have   the   maturity   to   talk   about   my   feelings   then   the   way   i'm   doing   now,   i   think   it   also   took   me   going   through   all   of   that   alone   to   grow   into   this   person   who   can   offer   an   apology   and   an   explanation   to   this.   ”

she's  quiet  for  a  moment  that  spans  into  two,  and  then  three,  taking  in  the  entirety  of  vivienne's  heartfelt  confession.  there's  no  skirting  around  the  heaviness  of  it  all,  but  she's  sure  to  maintain  her  composure,  to  listen  to  all  that  the  other  had  to  say  before  forming  an  opinion  of  her  own.  it's  not  something  that  celeste  practices  often,  but  she's  trying  to  turn  a  new  leaf,  hopeful  that  this  confessional  will  be  the  bridge  that  fills  the  gap  between  the  two.  half  of  her  wine  is  gone  by  the  time  vivienne  has  finished,  a  long  sigh  falling  from  her  lips  as  she  thinks  on  what  to  say.  she's  trying  to  be  less  selfish,  more  understanding,  but  she  can't  help  the  questions  flooding  to  the  surface.  “that's  really  shitty,”  is  her  chosen  icebreaker,  followed  by  another  swig  of  wine.  “look,  vivi,  i'm  really  sorry  that  you  were  thrust  into  a  life  you  didn't  choose,  and  didn't  think  you  deserved.  i'm  sorry  that  you  spent  so  much  of  your  life  fitting  yourself  into  a  box  that  you  didn't  fit,  even  if  you  made  yourself  think  that  you  did,”  chest  pangs,  eyes  lifting  from  her  glass  to  meet  vivi's.  “you  were  always  destined  for  big  things,  we  all  knew  that."  …  "and  the  wedding  failing,  even  though  it  fucking  sucks,  was  a  redirection  to  where  you  felt  you  were  meant  to  be,  yeah  ?”  pauses  for  a  moment,  allowing  the  question  to  linger.  “so  why  then,  when  you  got  there,  you  felt  the  need  to  disappear  from  everyone  else  ?  tell  your  family  to  lie  to  us  ?  because  you  think  i  would've  begged  you  to  abandon  your  dreams  and  come  back  ?  or  worse,  that  i'd  sell  you  out  to  your  ex  ?  don't  you  think  it  would've  been  nice  to  have  someone  supporting  your  transition  other  than  your  dad  and  brother  ?  a  friend  to  confide  in  ?  you  literally  just  said  you  had  no  idea  what  you  were  doing,  so  why  did  you  choose  to  be  confused  and  alone  ?”

    the   talk   about   wine   was   somewhat   settling;   it   helped   her   prepare   for   what   was   to   come   despite   knowing   nothing   could   really   put   viviènne   at   ease   when   it   came   to   speaking   of   her   feelings.   more   specifically   the   deeper   ones   she   most   of   the   time   refused   to   acknowledge.   “   trust   me,   this   is   as   much   for   me   as   it   is   for   you.   ”   she   wasn't   one   to   need   liquid   courage   but   there   were   certain   aspects   of   her   life   the   blonde   liked   to   keep   locked   in   a   safe   inside   a   room   she   wouldn't   ever   go   in.   but   alas,   there   she   was,   about   to   start   speaking.   wine   poured,   a   sip   taken   and   a   deep   inhale   of   air   later.   “   letty,   i-   i   started   planning   the   day   i'd   leave   palmview   maybe   a   week   before   we   even   moved   here.   the   only   reason   we   did   was   because   my   father   couldn't   handle   the   grief,   even   years   later,   and   i   guess   being   back   home   was   still   too   much   for   him.   didn't   help   that   in   his   loss   he   forgot   he   still   had   to   be   a   father   or   that   we   too   lost   someone.   i   was   eleven,   basically   raising   oscar   alone   despite   being   a   child   myself   and   now   a   full   ocean   away   from   anything   i   knew…   i   hated   this   place.   i   didn't   speak   the   language,   i   didn't   know   anybody,   i   felt   like   i   was   forced   apart   from   everything   that   could   remind   me   of   my   mother   and   the   life   i   loved   so   much.   it   was   too   much.   ” 

  another   deep   sigh,   another   sip   of   her   wine   and   many   many   memories   of   those   days   played   like   a   film   in   her   mind   before   she   could   continue.   “   then   i   was   sixteen   and   finally   managed   to   speak   english   in   a   way   people   could   actually   understand   me,   finally   started   making   friends-   ”   she   gave   the   other   a   look   that   meant   she   was   included   in   the   group.   “   i   experienced   romantic   love   for   the   first   time   and   that's   when   i   started   thinking   ‘maybe   this   place   isn’t   so   bad   and   i   could   potentially   be   happy   here'.   and   yes,   i   still   deep   down   had   the   dream   of   going   back   home   and   becoming   a   chef   but   i   couldn't   just   leave   everybody   i   loved   behind.   so   i   stayed   and   i   built   a   life   around   what   i   had   here   and   then   suddenly   i   was   engaged   at   twenty-two,   living   a   life   that   was   not   the   one   i   had   planned   but   one   i   was   content   with   because   i   had   who   i   thought   to   be   the   love   of   my   life   and   friends   and   family   and   that   had   to   be   enough.   ”   she   shook   her   head,   a   humourless   laugh   leaving   her   lips   as   the   words   came   out.   “   i   gave   up   everything   i   ever   wanted   to   make   everyone   else   around   me   happy.   only   to   one   day   find   out   that   while   i   was   planning   our   wedding   my   fiancé   was   cheating   on   me.   it   struck   me   like   lightning,   i   felt   like   the   dumbest   person   on   earth   and   suddenly   all   that   hatred   i   had   for   this   place   came   back   twice   as   strong.   i   was   on   a   plane   to   france   the   next   morning,   not   even   twenty-four   hours   later.   i   didn't   even   have   a   plan,   i   just   wanted   to   disappear.   had   to   live   with   my   cousin   for   a   while   until   i   had   a   notion   of   what   i   was   gonna   do   with   my   life,   every   money   i   had   at   the   time   was   spent   on   a   wedding   that   never   happened.   thankfully   my   father   had   some   money   saved   and   chose   to   give   me   all   of   it   to   pay   for   culinary   school   and   uh-   yeah,   i   started   slowly   building   the   life   i've   always   wanted   after   completely   disconnecting   from   what   i   thought   at   the   time   was   keeping   me   from   doing   it.   ”

the  accent  she's  developed  over  her  years  away  is  undeniable,  celeste  confronted  with  the  fact  that  she  truly  did  not  know  the  woman  standing  in  front  of  her  any  longer.  sure,  there  were  semblances  of  the  person  she'd  once  known,  but  this  realization  opened  her  up  to  the  idea  of  giving  a  little  grace.  the  details  of  the  wine  are  amusing,  celeste  humming  as  vivi  throws  them  out  at  her  while  she  fetches  the  glasses  from  the  cabinet.  “seventy  -  eight,  pulling  out  the  big  stops  are  we  ?”  at  least  she'd  tell  herself  she  had,  that  the  night  of  reconciliation  meant  as  much  to  the  other  as  it  did  to  her.  the  bottle  is  opened  by  the  time  she  makes  it  back,  leaning  against  the  counter  and  coming  eye  level  to  the  glass  to  watch  the  pour.  “black  cherry  pairs  perfectly  with  decades  of  pent  up  frustration,”  she  jokes  lightly,  eyes  leaving  the  glass  only  for  a  moment  to  reach  vivienne's.  “plus  i've  kind  of  been  waiting  literal  years  for  this  day,  so  best  to  get  it  over  with  now,  yeah  ?  so,  what  the  fuck  happened  ?”

    “   touché.   ”   the   heavy   accent   makes   a   small   appearance   as   she   spoke.   it's   always   there   but   ten   times   more   noticeable   with   french   words   common   in   the   english   vocabulary.   it's   also   a   tad   more   present   when   viviènne   was   experiencing   strong   emotions   of   any   kind   so   she   imagined   celeste   would   have   to   pay   very   close   attention   to   understand   what   would   be   thrown   her   way.   “   oh,   we   want   the   specifics.   alright,   this   is   from   seventy-eight.   top   five   pomerols   hands   down.   some   meaty   and   dark   olive   notes   but   mainly   black   cherry.   ”   it   was   very   vivi   to   know   everything   about   the   bottles   on   her   display   rack,   mostly   so   she   would   have   an   answer   when   people   inevitably   asked   about   them.   “   second   top   cabinet   to   the   right.   ”   she   busied   herself   with   opening   the   bottle,   knowing   she   hadn't   much   more   time   of   calmness   before   unravelling   the   feelings   she'd   been   hiding   her   whole   life.   “   i   guess   it   all   depends   on   whether   you're   ready   to   hear   about   decades   of   bottled   up   frustration   or   not.   ”
